Interventional Oncology
I help to diagnose cancers and other diseases with image-guided needle biopsies. I place ports and catheters in order to allow infusion of chemotherapy and other medications. I treat many types of cancer, primarily through arterial embolization and thermal ablation. For arterial embolization we inject particles directly into the blood vessels that supply a tumor in order to cut off its blood supply. We also inject chemotherapy or particles that emit radiation directly into the tumors. In thermal ablation we use imaging to guide a needle to a target tumor and then destroy it with heat.
